‘Red Room’, a psychedelic trap project by Vinayvvs, delivers an otherworldly sonic experience

London-born Mumbai-based artist Vinayvvs has been having a consistent run this year, with his album ‘Anesthesia’ and a couple more EPs being released in 3 months. ‘Red Room’, his latest EP, was released on the 28th of June and consists of 6 tracks and has a runtime of 14 minutes. Vinay aims to deliver ‘The Read Room Experience’ through the project by adding psychedelic instrumentals and catchy flows. The world within the walls of the red room is defined by Vinay’s reflective narratives and the immersive sonic experience.

The first single ‘Offa 1’ is a very well-curated track. The cadence captured by Vinay and the trippy production help increase the replay value of the track. The production features a sample loop that aligns perfectly with the subtle chorus, beautifully played drums, and a synth layer to emphasise the psychoactive nature of the EP. The next track ‘Fill The Void’ talks about a certain partner from Vinay’s past relationships and how he still admires them. Vinay compliments his low-pitched vocals with well-executed ad-libs and a catchy chorus. The production features heavy bass and synths that help him create the perfect setting for the rather introspective piece. Another track worth mentioning is ‘Gumnaam Saaya’, which features Vinay’s never-seen-before lyrical prowess. The track portrays Vinay’s loneliness, and isolation and talks about how he has created a false sense of reality while his true nature has been lost as he continues to please the world. The production consists of a first-class sample that he compliments with drums and hard drops.

Vinayvvs’s ‘Red Room’ delivers an extraordinary sonic experience while also featuring a narrative that ties the project together. Vinay’s ability to create cohesive projects and introduce new sounds makes him one of the best-emerging artists from the underground hip-hop scene. I loved ‘Red Room’ through and through and would recommend one to experience this certain world, painted red by Vinay.
