WKND FRNDS by The F16s is shimmering with neo-psychedelic and wispy tropical vibes

The Chennai based indie alt-rock act The F16s are out with their tenacious EP ‘WKND FRNDS’. Having been known for their effervescent mix of indie, electronic-tinged rock, they have come back after a long haul with a laid back, yet on the edge at the same time, 4-track EP shimmering with neo-psychedelic and wispy tropical vibes.
‘WKND FRNDS’ feels effortless with rhythmically and melodically intricate tracks. The chunky synth sounds and the horn section set a cornerstone for a sonically byzantine musical piece. Mixed by Rohan Ramanna (Island City Studios) and mastered by Clay Jensen, ‘WKND FRNDS’ is beautiful and bittersweet all at once. The hazy melancholic vocals of Guitarist-vocalist Josh Fernandes along with the stripped back drums lend a nostalgic edge to the EP creating deep melodic movements. With tracks like ‘My Baby’s beak’ and ‘Amber’, the rich resonance of synth, guitars, horns, and drums is smeared until it all feels like one stretched towards infinity.
‘WKND FRNDS’ is rewarding, honest, and looks beyond the vistas of music. It creates a soundscape with a future that promises more reasons to curl up and let it slide like an earworm.
