Music connects people and that’s the beauty of it. That shared moment doesn’t ask for much, just that you pause, listen, and feel. And if there’s something that truly captures this magic, it’s busking that turns everyday commutes into unexpected concerts. Imagine, you’re coming home from a bad day at work, trudging with stress and anger, and all of a sudden you hear someone singing Tum Badal Gaye, eventually realising it’s Ankur Tewari, the man himself. Beautiful, right?
The good news is, this can actually happen without the confines of imagination because this World Music Day, Buskr Chowk is reimagining street performances with a three-day celebration across Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida. From June 20 to 22, the city streets will become lively pockets of art and expression, thanks to a unique pop-up performance series featuring names like Ankur Tewari, Akhil Sachdeva, and Kutle Khan.

At the heart of Buskr is music industry veteran Manu Saksena, who has been closely associated with festivals, venues, and artists since 2004. He shares, “When I was working on the concept, my vision was for Buskr to be able to impact a city’s storytelling capabilities positively… and create an engagement in society with spontaneous performances that encourage audience interaction and create a shared experience among strangers.”
And that’s exactly what Buskr aims to do — bring the joy of performance to where people are, without barriers or big stage drama.
One of the standout elements is the Buskr Booth, a patented, semi-professional setup that includes stage support, sound, and dual screens which will allow performers to shine without worrying about the tech. It will also be a clever space for brands to engage creatively while giving artists the boost they deserve.

What’s more, Buskr isn’t just for the seasoned crowd. Manu emphasises that newcomers and hobbyists are very much a part of the plan. “Buskr is essentially a platform for complete newcomers and hobbyists; they both get to showcase themselves to an audience without the hassle of worrying about sound and other infrastructure or about finding an audience,” he says. “It can be a good launch pad… offering experience, exposure, and confidence,” he adds.
And while the 3-days of performances kick things off, Manu says they’re not stopping there and adds “Buskr plans to travel to different cities in the next few months and even bring the experience of busking to smaller cities where the community vibe will be more prevalent.” He sees Buskr playing a strong role in connecting folk artists and emerging voices with audiences who otherwise might not get to see them perform live.
So if you’re someone who finds joy in music and summer evenings filled with rhythm, Buskr Chowk is where you ought to be because it’s not just a music event but an anticipated moment of connection, a shared vibe, and a whole lot of good energy out in the open.
